In short

AI drama ads, defined

What they are
Scripted vertical episodes in the style of mobile micro-dramas, which TikTok calls Mini Dramas: a cold open on a conflict, a twist, a cliffhanger. The characters and scenes are made with AI video models.
Where they come from
Short-drama apps such as ReelShort and DramaBox, which buy installs on Meta and TikTok with episode cuts. The median ad in our study of 39 ran 18.9 minutes.
What brands change
The product becomes the object the story turns on, episodes run 30 to 180 seconds instead of twenty minutes, and the AI footage is disclosed, never hidden.
What it costs
A custom proposal per series: episode length, episode count, cast and locations set the price. Drama sits outside the monthly plans.

Anatomy of a drama ad

Five beats, from cold open to cliffhanger.

The structure the drama apps run, cut to brand length. Frames from the OSTRID episode.

  1. Eleanor holds up the ring box at the dinner table

    Cold open

Start mid-argument. The first line is the hook.

  2. Nora answers that the ring was her grandmother's

    4 to 15 s

    Stakes

One line of setup, or a narrator who gives the backstory.

The plot turns on an object. Make it your product.

14 of 39 turn on an object

  4. Eleanor reads the engraving and finds her own name

    26 to 45 s

    The reveal

Pay off the first line, then open a new question.

  5. End card with the series title, the ring and a search bar reading OSTRID

    45 to 48 s

    Cliffhanger

Name the next episode and give one search action.

The study

What 39 drama ads in the Meta Ad Library have in common.

We pulled 41 English-language video ads from 12 short-drama apps in the Meta Ad Library on 14 October 2026, choosing the creatives that ran longest and were reused most. Two were duplicates; we coded the other 39 by hand from 16 frames each.

What brands should copy

  • Open mid-conflict, on a spoken line
  • Give the series a name and keep it on screen
  • Let the twist turn on your product
  • End on a cliffhanger with one search action
  • Caption every line for sound-off viewing

What brands should never copy

  • Sensual or taboo hooks: 9 of 39 used them, and Meta's ad standards restrict them
  • Long cuts: 29 of 39 ran 10 minutes or more, up to 33.9 minutes. Apps sell the next episode in their app; a brand sells a product
  • Unlabelled AI: 14 of 39 used AI footage, and none showed an AI label in the frames we coded

The rule we work to

We write the drama. We never fake the product.

  • We write

    • Characters, conflict and dialogue
    • Cold opens and cliffhangers
    • Series titles and episode arcs
    • Captions for every line
  • We keep exact

    • Your pack, label and colours
    • Claims you have approved
    • Prices and offers as you set them
    • Your brand rules on tone
  • We never

    • Invent reviews, ratings or results
    • Write sex, violence or minors into a plot
    • Use a real person's face or voice
    • Hide that the footage is AI

Where drama earns its place

Three jobs a drama series does well.

  1. 01

A launch told as a story

Introduce a product as the object everyone in the room wants, over three to five episodes.

ExampleA new flavour that starts a family feud in episode 1.

  2. 02

New openings for a winning episode

Keep the episode that converts and test new first seconds on it: a conflict, a narrator, an object, a flash-forward.

ExampleOne episode, four openings, one story behind them.

  3. 03

An objection turned into a plot

The doubt buyers have becomes the accusation a character makes, and the product answers it on screen.

Example"It's fake, darling." Then the engraving.

Honest limits

When drama is the wrong format.

We will say so before we take the brief.

Who makes it

Two people own your drama series from brief to delivery.

  • Kenneth Dosanjh

    Co-founder / Creative Director

    Kenneth Dosanjh

Writes the series, the cold opens and the cliffhangers, and signs off every episode against your brand rules.

    Kenneth
  • Marianne Larsen

    AI Producer

    Marianne Larsen

Casts the characters, keeps faces, sets and product identical across episodes and checks every line against its caption.

How it works

From one call to a finished series.

  1. Call

    Product, rules and a premise

You tell us the product, the approved claims and the lines you will not cross. We pitch three premises.

  2. Proposal

    One price for the series

Episode length, episode count, cast and locations, fixed in writing before anything is made.

  3. Episode 1

Script, cast and the first episode

You approve the script and cast, then review episode 1. One revision round on every episode.

  4. Series

    Delivered, ready to launch

Finished 9:16 episodes. Your media team launches, or we do, agreed per client.

Pricing

A custom proposal for every series.

Drama episodes run longer than the videos in our monthly plans, so every series is quoted on its own.

What sets the price

  1. Episode length, from 30 to 180 seconds or more
  2. Number of episodes in the series
  3. Cast size and number of locations
  4. Languages and cut-downs for testing

We reply the same working day.

Questions buyers ask

AI drama ads, answered.

  • 01

    What are AI drama ads?

Short scripted video ads in the style of mobile micro-dramas, also called micro-drama ads: a cold open on a conflict, a twist and a cliffhanger, with characters and scenes made by AI video models. AI Vidia makes them for consumer brands, with the product written into the plot.

  • 02

Where did drama ads come from?

From short-drama apps such as ReelShort, DramaBox and NetShort, which advertise episode cuts on Meta and TikTok to win installs. In the 39 app ads we studied, the median ad ran 18.9 minutes.

  • 03

Do drama ads work for ecommerce brands?

There is no public sales data for brand drama ads yet. Published brand series report reach: Crocs' series on ReelShort drew nearly 10 million views, and in June 2026 Crocs ran a seven-part shoppable series on TikTok Shop, per Marketing Dive. Test a drama series against your current best ad before you scale it.

    How the Control Test works
  • 04

Can drama ads run on TikTok?

Yes. TikTok calls the format Mini Dramas and, since July 2026, offers Growth Max, a scaling product for advertisers in high-engagement verticals, per Tubefilter. Our episodes are cut in 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts and marked as AI-generated at delivery.

  • 05

How long should a brand drama ad be?

Drama apps run long cuts (29 of 39 of the ads we studied ran 10 minutes or more) because they sell the next episode inside their app. A brand sells a product, so our episodes run 30 to 180 seconds. Across 421 DTC brand ads on Meta, length did not change cost per result (Biddyco, October 2026).

  • 06

What does an AI drama series cost?

Each series gets a custom proposal, because drama episodes run longer than the videos in our monthly plans. Episode length, episode count, cast and locations set the price. Ask for a proposal call and we reply the same working day.

    Request a proposal call
  • 07

    Can AI make drama ads?

Yes. 14 of 39 of the drama-app ads we studied used AI-generated footage. In China, Caixin reports that over 95% of new micro-dramas in the first quarter of 2026 were made with AI.

  • 08

Do AI drama ads need an AI label?

Yes. TikTok rejects or restricts AI-generated ads that are not disclosed, Meta shows an AI info label, and the EU AI Act's transparency duties apply from 2 August 2026. We mark every episode as AI-generated at delivery, so whoever launches it can set the platform's disclosure.

  • 09

    Drama ads or UGC ads?

UGC borrows trust from a customer; drama borrows attention from a story. They answer different questions, so run them side by side. We make both.

    AI UGC ads
  • 10

How many episodes should a series have?

Three to five per concept. Episode 1 has to work on its own, because most viewers only ever see one.

  • 11

Which drama tropes get ads rejected?

Sensual, violent and coercive plots. 9 of 39 of the app ads we studied opened on sensual bait, the kind Meta's ad standards restrict. We write conflict, secrets and reveals instead.
