When should Black Friday video ads be ready? A backwards plan for 2026
Black Friday 2026 falls on 27 November. This dated backwards plan takes video ads from product photos to past learning, with a calculator for your own peak day.
Black Friday video ads should be live by Friday 20 November 2026, seven days before the 27 November peak, so they finish learning in time. Working backwards through platform review, internal approval, a seven-day production cycle and product photos, a single batch starts around 4 November. Add an October test batch and the start moves to around 14 October.

Black Friday video ads need to be live by Friday 20 November 2026 to get a seven-day learning window before the peak on Friday 27 November. Work backwards from that date and product photos are due around 4 November for a single batch, or around 14 October if you want a test batch first.
The calendar is tighter than it looks. Product photos, internal approval and platform review each take days that rarely appear in a production quote, and the calculator below adds them up for your own peak day.
What are the 2026 Black Friday and Cyber Monday dates?
Thanksgiving falls on Thursday 26 November 2026, Black Friday on Friday 27 November and Cyber Monday on Monday 30 November. Plan to the earliest day you need to win.
The money is spread across five days. Adobe Analytics recorded US online spend of USD 6.4 billion on Thanksgiving 2025, USD 11.8 billion on Black Friday, USD 11.8 billion across the Saturday and Sunday combined and USD 14.25 billion on Cyber Monday, according to Adobe's release of 2 December 2025. The five days together reached USD 44.2 billion.

Adobe Analytics, Adobe press release of 2 December 2025. US online spend, USD billion; the weekend bar covers two days.
Those are US figures for all online retail, so read them as the shape of the week. Your own sales by day is the better guide to the date your ads must be ready for. If Cyber Monday is your biggest day, plan to 30 November and you gain three days.
Video needs more lead time than the offer
An offer is a decision. A video needs inputs, production, approval and a platform review before it can start learning, and each of those waits for the step before it.
The inputs come first. AI video is built from the product photos you already have and a written product fact sheet you sign off, so a holiday gift box or new packaging has to exist and be photographed before production starts. If that gift set is still in transit from the factory, its arrival date becomes your real start date.

Then the platforms need their time. Google says most ads are reviewed within one business day and suggests checking an ad's status once review runs past two full business days, on its ad review help page. Budget two days of buffer for every platform you upload to.
How long does each step take, from product photos to past learning?
Five steps sit between a locked offer and a Black Friday video that has finished learning. The defaults below are planning assumptions for one batch of 9:16 videos.
Production follows AI Vidia's published seven-day process: brief on day 1, style references and a shot list approved on day 2, a first batch for review on day 3, your review on day 5 and finished files on day 7. Your own approval comes on top. Brand, legal and a founder often each want a look before anything goes live, and two rounds of two days is a modest assumption for that chain.
The last step is the one teams cut. TikTok says volatility starts to decline after about 25 campaign results or 7 days from when a campaign enters the learning phase, in its learning phase help article. Meta's Marketing API counts an ad set's learning-phase conversions only since its last significant edit, per the learning stage reference, so a significant edit in peak week starts that count again.

Day counts are planning assumptions, except the 7 days of production, which follow AI Vidia's published process. All days are calendar days, weekends included. Set each step to your own team's pace.
Read the top line as the last safe day to start. The calendar counts weekends, so if a step starts on a Saturday, move it to the Friday before. Health, beauty and supplement brands whose claims go through legal review should add those days to the approval step.
Need new ads? Describe your product and what you want to test.
A single November batch goes live untested. Every video in it is a guess made under deadline.
A test batch changes that. TikTok's holiday shopping ads guide tells advertisers to begin concepting in September or early October and to map assets by campaign phase: teaser, launch, reminder and post-sale. Run a smaller batch four weeks before the peak, keep the videos that earn results, and brief the peak batch from them.
Two lanes for a Friday 27 November 2026 peak. Dates are arithmetic from the five steps above; the test lane goes live four weeks before the peak.

The test lane only pays off if its results arrive before the peak brief. Live on 30 October, it has seven days of results by the 7 November brief. If a test video has too few results to judge by then, keep it running and brief from the ones that do.
Make the body evergreen and the edges seasonal
Keep the seasonal part small. TikTok's guide advises a mix of evergreen and seasonal creative so advertisers can adapt as trends shift, and the cheapest way to get that mix is inside each video.
Build the body of the video to last: the problem, the product in use, the proof. Put the season in parts you can swap without new production, such as the end card with the offer, an on-screen offer line and sometimes the opening scene. The body keeps working in December. The end cards come off on 1 December.
Image generated with AI: the same evergreen scene with a neutral offer panel and a seasonal one that comes off on 1 December.
If the offer is a percentage off, put it on the end card and in the first on-screen line. If the product itself is seasonal, such as a gift set, the whole video is seasonal and belongs in the test lane, because it has no evergreen life to fall back on.
What changes in the EU this Black Friday?
Article 50 of the EU AI Act applies from 2 August 2026, which makes this the first Black Friday under it. Paragraph 4 says deployers of an AI system that generates or manipulates image, audio or video content constituting a deep fake shall disclose that the content has been artificially generated or manipulated, per the text of Article 50.
That matters for the schedule. A labelling decision made in peak week means re-exporting and re-uploading files, which sends them back through platform review. Decide your labelling rule at the brief, and read the AI ad disclosure rules for Meta, TikTok and YouTube for the platform side. This is planning guidance, not legal advice.
Which published plan fits a Black Friday deadline?
The deadline decides more than the budget. Three of the plans on AI Vidia's pricing page line up with the dates above.
Control Test, EUR 2,000 one-time. Ten variants against your current best ad, a 14-day test in your account and a readout on day 18. Started by 19 October, the readout falls on 6 November, the day before the peak brief.
Pilot Sprint, EUR 4,900 one-time. 18 videos delivered in 14 days. Started by 31 October, they arrive on 14 November, the day your approval round begins.
Performance Retainer, EUR 8,500 a month. 40 videos a month in weekly batches, with the first batch for review on day 3, which is the shape of the two-lane plan.
Each plan delivers 9:16 video. Who launches the ads and runs the tests, your team or ours, is agreed before the start.
What to do if you are already late
If the start date in the calculator has passed, cut new concepts first. Take your current best evergreen videos, add a seasonal end card and an on-screen offer line, and upload them as new ads by 18 November. That keeps the work to a short edit.
Leave running ad sets alone in peak week. Meta counts learning conversions from the last significant edit, as the reference above shows, so add new ads before 20 November and then hold. For how often to replace ads once the season is over, see the weekly ad cadence guide.
Your task for today takes about 20 minutes. Open the calculator, enter the day your sales peak, and put the start date, the upload date and the go-live date into your team calendar, each with the name of the person who signs it off.
Frequently asked questions
01When should Black Friday ads go live?
Black Friday ads should go live about seven days before your peak day, which is Friday 20 November 2026 for a Black Friday peak. TikTok says volatility starts to decline after about 25 results or 7 days in the learning phase. If Cyber Monday on 30 November is your biggest day, go live by 23 November instead.
02How long does it take to make AI video ads for Black Friday?
On AI Vidia's monthly plans, finished files are ready seven days after the brief, with a first batch for review on day 3. Add the days you need for product photos, your own approval and platform review. For a Black Friday peak on 27 November, that puts the start around 4 November.
03Do Black Friday video ads have to be all new?
Most of a Black Friday video can be evergreen, with the season carried by the end card, the offer line and sometimes the opening scene. That body keeps working after 1 December, when the seasonal end cards come off. Seasonal products such as gift sets are the exception and need videos of their own.
04Do AI-generated Black Friday ads need a label in the EU?
AI-generated video that counts as a deep fake must be disclosed under Article 50 of the EU AI Act, which applies from 2 August 2026. Whether a given ad meets that definition is a question for your legal counsel. Decide the labelling rule at the brief, so files are not re-exported in peak week.
05What if our Black Friday creative is running late?
Late Black Friday creative is best handled by reusing proven evergreen videos with a seasonal end card and an on-screen offer line. Upload them as new ads by 18 November so platform review clears before 20 November, and avoid significant edits to running ad sets during peak week.
